Dessert after LUNCH??!!
by rebel8 ini've always had a real sweet tooth but when pioneering that was the first time i ever heard of anyone eating dessert after lunch in addition to dessert after dinner.. sometimes the few pioneers who cared about their weight would just have dessert for lunch, but i digress.. anyway, where i work we have a cafeteria and dessert comes with lunch.
it's not healthy!
i wish they didn't even offer it, because i have a hard time saying no.

It sounds to me like she isn't feeling as connected to you as she needs to. Just Ron and I have been married 21 years now, so we are similar to you in age and length of relationship. Like your wife, I have gained weight and I'm all old and saggy and I feel like I'm not much to look at. I feel best about myself and my life when I feel like Just Ron and I are on the same team, working together towards the same goals, like when we spend the evening sitting together on the porch talking rather than camped in front of the TV, or when we spend time working on a project together. I'm getting the sense that she feels left behind or left out of your new project. There are a lot of things that Just Ron enjoys that I just can't get interested in and that's OK. Your desire to exercise at the gym is OK too, but you need to find a way to connect with your wife that will keep going while you are at the gym.
I was very insecure and very jealous for a long time. Even now it doesn't take a lot to provoke those feelings. Whenever I start feeling that way, I try to remember to remind myself that he's always stuck with me and he loves me. Maybe your wife could be encouraged to rewrite her internal dialogue to be more positive.

District Assembly Vehicle Parking Passes: $5.00
by Calebs Airplane ini've been out for a few years now, but when i was in, we frequently had to purchase "vehicle parking passes" several weeks before the start of our district assembly (depending on the coliseum or stadium being rented at the time).
it was usually $5.00 and you were given a 10" x 4" (or so) card with the assembly title/theme printed on.
according to the instructions from a branch letter that was read out loud (usually at the end of the service meeting), this card had to be placed on the right side of your dashboard such that the dub parking attendants can easily see it as you drive through the parking entrance.

None of the assemblies I ever attended in Louisville KY or Evansville IN between 2000 and 2011 had any sort of fee for parking.

Should people be able to live on the dole ?
by fulltimestudent ina petite row is brewing in the australian teacup.
jenny macklin, a rather grandiosely titled, minister for families, asked by a journalist, whether she could live on the $35 dollars-a-day social services payment for job-seekers, replied that she could!
but her staff cut that comment out of the official transcript.. the row is a bit more complicated than that- but that's the gist.. the full story is at: http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/minister-riles-welfare-groups-20130101-2c4ct.html.

Where I am, cell phones run around $45 per month if you want texting and data. I pay $50 per month for high speed internet, which is higher than what people in metropolitan areas have to pay. I haven't had a land line phone in years, so I have no idea what that would cost. You can get a MagicJack for $40 per year that works off the internet to make phone calls. It's not portable like a cell phone, but it's better than nothing.

I think the basic issue is whether or not the dole should provide more than just enough to survive on. IMO, welfare is a safety net to keep people from starvation. I don't see any reason for basic welfare benefits to provide more than subsistence level benefits. I don't know what the exchage rate is, or the relative costs of living, but $12,000 where I live (small town US Midwest) is enought to squeak by on, as long as you don't have medical issues.
